Jonathan Schettino, PhD

Research Psychologist

Dr. Jonathan Schettino is a licensed psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), major depressive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. He identifies as a scientist-practitioner and endeavors to align his therapeutic practice with the latest psychological science. His impetus to learn more about the potential therapeutic benefits of psychedelic substances and join the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research stems from his scientist-practitioner orientation. Dr. Schettino completed his psychology training at Princeton University (B.A. - 2004), Saint Elizabeths Hospital (pre-doctoral internship - 2012), University of California, Los Angeles (Ph.D. - 2012), and Otto-Friedrich Universität, Bamberg (post-doctoral fellowship - 2013). His professional career experience includes serving as a staff psychologist at the Towson University Counseling Center and the Johns Hopkins University Employee/Student Assistance Program. Dr. Schettino founded and maintains ownership of a private psychology practice in Baltimore City that specializes in CBT for anxiety disorders and OCD as well as psychological assessment. He has been a full member of the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) since 2014 and trained under one of ABCT’s former presidents (Michelle Craske, Ph.D.). Although Dr. Schettino’s focus since 2014 has been practice-oriented, he has research experience in health psychology, personality psychology, and the impacts of religiosity/spirituality on mental health and well-being. He is looking forward to gaining both research and applied experience in psychedelic science.
