Mazen Atiq, MBBS, MD

Mazen Atiq is a physician–scientist whose research centers on serotonergic psychedelics and the clinical relevance of their acute effects.

He is board‑certified in Clinical Pathology, Molecular Genetic Pathology, and Clinical Pharmacology. He received his medical degree in Karachi, Pakistan, and then completed residency and fellowship training in Clinical and Molecular Genetic Pathology, respectively, at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, followed by a fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at Johns Hopkins University.

Currently a Clinical Research Fellow in the CPCR, he applies pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling to characterize psilocybin’s acute effects and uses pharmacogenetic approaches to identify predictors of response. His involvement in phase I–III clinical trials complements his ongoing training as a PhD candidate in the Graduate Training Program in Clinical Investigation at Johns Hopkins University.
