Brandon Benjamin

Brandon Benjamin is a clinical research coordinator working with Dr. Brandon Weiss and Dr. Sandeep Nayak, where he studies the therapeutic potential of MDMA- and psilocybin assisted psychotherapy for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University. Previously at CPCR, Brandon served as a research assistant contributing to a study examining psilocybin-assisted therapy for PTSD. Additionally, Brandon previously served as a psychiatric medical assistant under Dr. Angela Onwuanibe, gaining valuable clinical experience in mental health care.

Brandon’s research interests are focused on the therapeutic applications of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy on psychiatric disorders such as PTSD, major depressive disorder, and substance use disorders. He is particularly passionate about advancing equitable access to mental health treatment and investigating how psychedelic therapies can address racial trauma and reduce mental health disparities in Black, Indigenous, and other historically underserved communities. He plans to pursue a career in psychiatry and lead his own practice, expanding access to innovative evidence-based treatments for mental illness.
