Audrey Neff, LICSW

Audrey is a licensed therapist (LICSW) with more than a decade of experience providing psychotherapy, clinical assessment, and care coordination across medical, community mental health, and psychedelic-assisted therapy settings. As a psychiatric therapist at CPCR, Audrey supports participants throughout the research process by providing supportive counseling, and helping ensure safe, ethical, and compassionate care within the research protocols. She is passionate about advancing the scientific understanding of psychedelic therapies while creating a therapeutic environment where participants feel supported, respected, and empowered throughout their experiences. Before joining Johns Hopkins, Audrey worked as a substance use disorder psychotherapist at Whitman-Walker Health in Washington, D.C., providing individual and group psychotherapy to adults with complex mental health and substance use concerns. She also worked as a psychedelic-assisted therapist at Field Trip Health, providing preparation, support, and integration psychotherapy within established treatment protocols. Her passion for psychedelic research stems from witnessing the profound capacity for healing, insight, and meaningful behavioral change that can emerge when psychotherapy is paired with these novel treatments. She is particularly interested in expanding access to innovative mental health care, reducing the burden of substance use and trauma-related disorders, and contributing to research that has the potential to transform how we understand and treat psychological distress. Her clinical interests include psychedelic-assisted therapies, substance use disorders, trauma, nature-informed therapy, LGBTQ issues, and the integration of compassionate, evidence-based care into clinical research.
